"The Ministry of Justice, in accordance with the Constitution and the laws, exercises functions and is responsible for the drafting and implementation of policies, the preparation of legal and sublegal acts, as well as the provision of necessary services related to the judicial system, the enforcement of criminal and civil court decisions, the system of free legal and professional services, international cooperation in civil and criminal matters, other areas of justice and within its legal competencies, as well as the coordination, harmonization, and reform of the Albanian legal framework as a whole.

In the exercise of its activities, the Ministry of Justice aims to ensure respect for the Constitution and the laws, the realization and protection of human dignity, human rights, and fundamental freedoms, and to contribute to the prevention of legal violations, in line with and in support of the democratic development and European integration of the Republic of Albania.

The Ministry of Justice, in accordance with the law, supports, cooperates with, and coordinates its activities with the judicial authorities and the prosecution office, while respecting the principle of separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary and the prosecution."
