Restoran Lanterna na Dolcu

Lanterna na Dolcu, or Lanterna at the Dolac Market, opened its doors on September 10, 2010, in a charming, historic setting of an old manor. The restaurant was founded by brothers Tomislav and Ivan, who shared a common vision to serve traditional Zagreb cuisine at affordable prices, all within a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. It didn't take long for the restaurant’s reputation to spread far and wide, even reaching London.

Every morning, fresh ingredients are sourced from the kumice (local women farmers) at the nearby Dolac Market, ensuring that every dish served is made with the finest and freshest produce available. The restaurant itself is located in one of the oldest streets in Zagreb’s city center, housed in a basement that’s over 300 years old. The striking vaulted ceiling with exposed brickwork adds to the restaurant’s warm and unique ambiance.

At Lanterna, we’ve blended the rich traditions of Zagreb’s cuisine with the scents and legends of the city’s history. Our aim was to seamlessly mix modern and traditional elements, not only in the interior design but also in the dishes we serve. For inspiration, we turned to an old cookbook from 1854, discovered in the Zagreb City Museum, which guided us in crafting a menu that pays homage to authentic Croatian flavors while introducing some special, unique ingredients into every dish.
