Description

The National Museum "Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg" is one of the most visited museums in Albania. Located within the ruins of the centuries-old Krujë Castle, the museum was opened in 1982. The building is designed as a fortress resembling a medieval Albanian castle, with a primary focus on documenting the life and deeds of Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg, the country's national hero. Over the years, the museum has fascinated many visitors from different countries. Talented Albanian artists and architects have worked to turn this museum into a fantastic tourist attraction.

The Ethnographic Museum of Krujë offers a unique tour through the lifestyles and household traditions of Albanians over the centuries. The structure is one of a kind in the entire Balkans, inspired by both Albanian and Ottoman architectural styles. The house was officially built in 1764 and was adapted into a museum in 1989. The three floors of the house-museum display various aspects of life in a wealthy Albanian family during the Ottoman era. Visitors can learn about traditional yet efficient systems built to make the house self-sufficient, as well as how the living spaces were organized according to social status and gender roles.
